Dark Arisen Relic Appraisal Guide

A Dark Arisen relic is not usable equipment until it is appraised. Search Norgan’s monsters, caves, abandoned homes and hidden troves; carry the finds back to the Norgandian Settlement; appraise them; then compare raw power, skill effects and Thermal protection before planning the next expedition.

Relic expedition cycle from exploration to collection, settlement appraisal and equipment choice.
  1. Leave the Norgandian Settlement with cold protection and open inventory space.
  2. Fight Norgan beasts, but also inspect caves and abandoned homes. Official guidance says combat is not the only source of spoils.
  3. Use the Freki search route when you can supply her required meat.
  4. Return with unappraised relics. Do not discard a relic because its final equipment identity is not yet visible.
  5. Appraise relics at the settlement.
  6. Compare the revealed item against your current setup and the next route’s weather risk.
Check Keep or equip when Caution
Raw power It materially improves the role you need Norgan weather can make a stronger item impractical.
Skill effect It supports a weapon skill or build you actually use A rare effect is not automatically useful to your vocation.
Thermal The next route includes blizzards or whiteout risk Thermal competes with stronger non-weather stats.
Item class and tier It fits your equipment slot and route Exact roll tables and tier odds are not confirmed here.

If the best combat item lacks Thermal protection, carry Heat Stones as the temporary alternative described in review-build coverage. The stone protects the party for a limited period, while Thermal is an equipment property; these are complementary decisions, not identical effects.

Return before cold pressure, inventory load or navigation loss makes the next fight unsafe. The loop is designed around repeated settlement visits. It is more reliable to bank and appraise a manageable batch than to assume every expedition should continue until a quest ends.

For route choice, see the start-order guide. For the weather decision itself, use Norgan cold survival.
